Dave McCallum

Dave McCallum is a retired senior detective who has specialised for more than 25 years in investigating and developing strategic responses to sexual violence and child abuse and is also an experienced homicide investigator.

An accredited level 3 senior investigating officer, Dave led the Bristol Public Protection Unit until his retirement from the police service. He has spent seven years since chairing local safeguarding children boards, leading work to combat sexual exploitation and conducting a number of complex case reviews and investigations. He has been investigating complex sexual misconduct cases for universities since June 2018.

Dave holds a MSc degree in Child Forensic Studies.

JULIE BRYAN YOUNG

Julie Bryan-Young is a retired operational detective with 32 years Police experience. She is a specialist in investigation of sexual violence and child protection. Working as a detective for many years, Julie, has investigated a wide range of serious and complex crime. Julie has received court commendations and recognition for her work investigating serious sexual violence. 

 As a detective she is an Accredited PIP level 2 advanced witness and suspect interviewer. She has interviewed witnesses and suspects for the most serious and complicated of offences and circumstances.  She is a nationally accredited investigator of Child Protection. 

Julie is an accredited police trainer and has a degree in education. Julie has delivered training nationally in respect of the Equality and Diversity,for which she was nationally recognised. She has been involved in the implementation of equalities policy within the police service and has sat on a number of working parties in relation to change culture within the wider community.
